What is Radon?

Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas formed by the decay of uranium in soil and rock. It is invisible, odorless, and tasteless, making it impossible to detect without specialized equipment. While radon poses little risk outdoors, it can accumulate to dangerous levels indoors, particularly in homes. Radon exposure is the second leading cause of lung cancer, after smoking. The good news is that radon levels can be effectively reduced through professional mitigation systems, safeguarding your home and health.

How is Radon Mitigation Performed?

Radon mitigation typically involves installing an Active Soil Depressurization System (ASDS), also known as a Sub-Slab Depressurization System. Here's how it works:

  1. Installation: A certified professional cores a hole through the concrete slab and inserts a pipe into the soil or gravel beneath the foundation. As part of the installation process, our professional installer will also analyze how the radon gas enters the home and measure the proper amount of pressure required. This ensures the selection of the right mitigation system to effectively evacuate the gas. Finally, the installer seals the opening to prevent any gas from leaking through..

  2. Suction: A special fan is connected to the pipe, creating a suction that draws radon gas from beneath the foundation.

  3. Venting: The radon-laden air is then vented outdoors, safely away from your home.

This process effectively reduces radon levels by preventing the gas from entering your living space. It's important to note that mitigation should be performed by a qualified professional to ensure optimal results and safety.
