What is Radon?

Radon is a natural radioactive gas from uranium decay in soil and rock. It is invisible, odorless, and tasteless, detectable only with special equipment. Though low risk outdoors, it can build up indoors, posing a serious lung cancer risk—second only to smoking. Professional mitigation systems can effectively reduce radon levels, protecting your home and health.

How is Radon Mitigation Performed?

Radon mitigation typically involves installing an Active Soil Depressurization System (ASDS), also known as a Sub-Slab Depressurization System. Here's how it works:

  1. Installation: First, we assess the home and determine possible sites for the mitigation system. Next, we analyze potential entry points where radon gas may enter the home and evaluate the need for any necessary repairs. Once these steps are complete, a certified professional cores a hole through the concrete slab at the chosen site and inserts a pipe into the soil or gravel beneath the foundation. During installation, our professional also measures the proper amount of pressure required to ensure the right mitigation system is selected.

  2. Suction: A special fan is connected to the pipe, creating a suction that draws radon gas from beneath the foundation.

  3. Venting: The Radon-laden air is then vented outdoors, safely away from your home.

This process effectively reduces radon levels by preventing the gas from entering your living space.

Mitigation Rough-in Present

$1,800 (price may vary by set up)

Most commonly seen in new homes, Radon mitigation rough-in may look like the picture above. If you have a rough-in present, we will test it to make sure it is functioning effectively, and utilize it in our installation. However, in some cases we have found that the way the rough-in is set up is not working effectively to remove Radon from the home and additional/different suction sites may be needed.

No Rough-in, unfinished basement

$2,200 (price may vary by set up)

If your basement is unfinished, but does not have a rough-in, not to worry, we will test the conditions underneath the floor and design our system in a way that effectively removes Radon from your home.

Finished basement, bulkhead ceiling

No Rough-in, finished basement and mechanical room

$2,900 (price may vary by set up)

We treat your home like we would our own. Taking great care not to do any unnecessary damage, we will work with you to find the best place to set up our system and complete the job safely, efficiently, and cleanly. Some basement setups may affect the cost, please contact us for information.
